Bahraini protesters demand release of activists

MANAMA (AFP) - Bahraini police dispersed a small group of protesters who gathered in Manama to demand the release of two activists detained a week ago.

Some 50 people, including relatives of the pair arrested on November 16 and leaders of the Shiite-led opposition group Haq, rallied for about an hour before police ordered them to disperse, a participant said.

Haq said last week that authorities had arrested two of its activists. They were Mohammed Said, one of the signatories of a recent petition to King Hamad demanding a probe into an alleged plot to marginalize Bahrain's Shiite majority, and Hussein Abdul Aziz al-Habshi.

Haq organized a rally in Manama on November 17 to press for an inquiry. Another rally has been called by Haq and other activists for Friday.

The group, which also includes Sunni opposition figures, has written to UN chief        Kofi Annan urging a probe into the purported conspiracy by some figures in Bahrain's Sunni-led government to rig legislative elections scheduled for Saturday and marginalize Shiites.

The plot allegations were made in a controversial report by purported British spy Salah al-Bandar, who said he exposed a secret organization operating within the government to "deprive an essential part of the population of this country of their rights" -- an allusion to Shiites.

Sudanese-born Bandar was an adviser on "strategic security" to the Bahraini government, which expelled him from the country in September and subsequently accused him of spying.

Bahrain's high court has banned the publication of any information on the alleged plot.

An interior ministry official said the two Haq activists were arrested for possessing unlicensed leaflets "containing inflammatory material and false information liable to disrupt public order and undermine the national interest."

رموز وحقوقيون يعتصمون إحتجاجاً على محاصرة السلطات البحرينية لحرية التعبير

مطالبة بالإفراج غير المشروط عن النشطاء المسجونين

يعتصم اليوم عدد من الرموز وناشطون حقوقيون- عرف من بينهم الناشط السياسي المعروف عبدالوهاب حسين، وأمين عام حركة "حق" حسن مشيمع، والناشط الحقوقي عبدالهادي الخواجة-  بشكل رمزي  عند المرفأ المالي (فرضة المنامة القديمة) في العاصمة المنامة لمدة ساعة واحدة. يأتي إعتصام هذه الشخصيات المعروفة للتعبير عن إحتجاجها على تعاطي السلطات البحرينية مع النشطاء، خصوصاً أولئك الذين يعبرون عن آراءهم ومواقفهم في قضايا الشأن العام المحلي.

يأتي هذا الإعتصام على خلفية الاعتقال التعسفي وحبس كلا من الدكتور محمد سعيد (35سنة -طبيب أسنان) وحسين عبدالعزيز (32 سنة- موظف شركة تأمين) لمدة 15 يوماً إحتياطياً على ذمة التحقيق، على أساس تهمتين؛ الأولى "حيازة وإحراز مطبوعات بغير سببمشروع، تتضمن تحبيذا وترويجا لتغيير نظم الدولة بوسائل غير مشروعة ودونما سببمشروع"، والثانية "حيازة وإحراز مطبوعات بغير سبب مشروع تتضمن أخبارا وشائعات كاذبة ومثيرة، من شأنها اضطراب الأمن العام وإلحاق الضرر بالمصلحة العامة" .

تأتي هذه التهم- بحسب تصريح النيابة العامة- على إثر قيام أحد الناشطين بسحب منشور على شبكة الانترنت يدعو إلى مقاطعةالانتخابات وإلى العصيان المدني من خلال سلسلة من التظاهرات والاعتصامات، وعلى قيام الناشط الآخر بالتوجه لطباعة هذه المادة،  ..وبأنهما كانا سيقومان بتوزيع هذه المنشورات على المصلين في عدد من مساجد البحرين.

وقد رفضت النيابة العامة طلب وكيلي المتهمين بالإفراج عن الناشطين معتبرة الواقعة المنسوبة لهما متعلقة بأمن الدولة، وهذا ما يثير القلق والتساءل عن حقيقة الدوافع وراء هذه الحملة . فقد أتي هذا التصعيد إبان التفاعل الشعبي مع تقرير فضيحة "البندر" التي سعت فيه السلطات البحرينية لإحكام القبضة الحديدية على التعاطي الإعلامي معها، ففي يوم الجمعة الفائت- 17 نوفمبر 2006م- تم تحويل مسيرة شعبية – دعت لها 21 شخصية وطنية- إلى إعتصام، بعد أن طوقت قوات الأمن الخاصة مكان إنطلاقها. كما تمت الدعوة من نفس الشخصيات لمسيرة أخرى عصر يوم الجمعة الموافق 24 نوفمبر 2006م.

تجدر الإشارة الى أن الدكتور محمد سعيد هو أحد الشخصيات التي وقعت على العريضة الموجهة لملك البلاد بخصوص فضيحة "البندر" والمطالبة بالتحقيق فيها، وقد نشط مع آخرين في نشر التقرير على أكبر قدر ممكن. وتحاول السلطات البحرينية أن تلبس موضوع حيازة مطبوعات تدعو لمقاطعة الإنتخابات القادمة لبوساً يرتبط بأمن الدولة، بغية الحد من التفاعل والتعاطي مع فضيحة "البندر" بأي صورة، و النيل من النشطاء وما يقومون به من أنشطة تزعج السلطة. من جانب آخر، فإن إظهارحيازة مطبوعات تدعو لمقاطعة الإنتخابات القادمة كجرم يرقى الى جريمة تغيير النظام، يعزز التوجه الرامي الى تغييب أي موقف معارض للإنتخابات وتخويف صاحب الرأي الآخر، ورسالة لأصحاب التصريحات المختلفة التي تطعن في نزاهة تلك الإنتخابات.

إن لجنة التضامن مع النشطاء ومعتقلي الرأي تتضامن مع الشخصيات المعتصمة في مطلبها بإسقاط كل التهم الملفقة للناشطين-محمد وحسين- والإفراج الفوري غير المشروط عنهما، والإلتزام بالمواثيق الدولية التي ضمنت حرية التعبير وحرية تداول المعلومة، وفي مقدمتها الإعلان العالمي لحقوق الإنسان والعهد الدولي للحقوق السياسية والمدنية والذي وقعت عليه البحرين في سبتمبر الماضي.

من جانب آخر، فإننا نناشد الجميع- أفراداً ومؤسسات- للتدخل لحماية حرية التعبير التي يتم إستهدافها بكل الوسائل من قبل السلطات البحرينية، كما ندعوهم لإظهار إحتجاجهم على ما جرى من إعتقال وتغييب لهذين الناشطين بكل الوسائل التعبيرية المتاحة.

Bahrain : Well-known Activists protest against containment of freedom of expression and demand unconditional release of imprisoned activists

A number of well-known activists, including Mr Abdel Wahab Hussein- well-known political activist, Mr Hassan Mushima- secretary general of the "HAQ" movement, Mr Abdulhadi Al-Khawaja-  President of Bahrain Center for Human Rights, are to stage a symbolic sit-in at the Harbor Financial (The old Manama sea port) in the capital Manama for a period of one hour. This sit-in by the well-known personalities is to express their protest at the abusive treatment of the Bahraini authorities with the activists, especially those who are expressing their views on issues of public affairs

The background of protest comes after the arbitrary arrest and detention of Dr. Mohamed Saeed (35-dentist), Mr. Hussein Abdul Aziz (32 years - insurance company employee) for 15 days in custody pending investigations, for two charges; the first is "possession of publications, without legitimate reason, containing favoring and promotion of the changing systems of the State through illegal means and without a legitimate reason. The two is "possession and acquisition of publications, without a legitimate reason containing false news and rumors, which would incite disruption of public security and damage the public interest.

These charges- as stated by the Public Prosecution - Follows downloading of one of the accused to a publication from the Internet calling for the boycott of the elections and the "civil disobedience" through a series of demonstrations, sit-ins, while the other accused arranged for printing of such article. They were intending to distribute these publications in congregations of a number of mosques in Bahrain.

The public prosecutor rejected the lawyers request to release the activists, considering the incident to be relating to the security of the State. This raises concerns and questions on the truth of the motives behind this campaign. This escalation has come during the interaction with the report of the popular scandal "Albandar," in which the Bahraini authorities introduced an iron fist on the media dealing with it. Last Friday-November 17, 2006- a demonstration called up on by    21 noble personalities, was forced to be converted into a sit-in, after the special security forces surrounded the place of its departure. It was an invitation from the same figures for the march again on the afternoon of Friday, November 24, 2006.

It should be noted that Dr. Mohammed Saeed is one of the personalities who signed a petition addressed to the King of the country on the scandal "Albandar" calling for an investigation enquiry. He was actively involved with others in the publication of the report to a largest extent. The Bahraini authorities are trying to enclave the possession of publications calling for boycotting the forthcoming elections by an act of state security nature in order to reduce the interaction and dealing with the scandal "Albandar" in any way as well as nailing the activists and their activities which are cumbersome to the Authorities. On the other hand, showing that possession of publications calling for the boycott of elections is equivalent to crime of changing the regime, reinforces the trend to eliminate any opposition to the elections and intimidation of the other views and a message to those giving out various statements questioning the integrity of the elections.

The Committee of Solidarity with the Activists and Detainees of  Conscience expresses its support and solidarity with the figures in their demand to drop all the fabricated charges to the activists-Mohammed and Hussein-and their immediate and unconditional release. This include the Authorities commitments to the international Charters which guarantee freedom of expression and the free exchange of information, which include the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Covenant of Civil and Political Rights, which was signed by Bahrain last September.

On the other hand, we appeal to everyone - individuals and institutions - to intervene to protect freedom of expression which is targeted by the Bahraini authorities. We also call upon them to show their protest for the detention and imprisonment of these activists, using all available means of expression.

Dear Mr. Ligabo,

We would like to express our deep concerns of detention and crimination of two Bahraini activists, Dr Mohamed Saeed Alsahlawi and Mr Husain Abdulaziz Alhebshi, who have been detained by the local Authorities because they have possesses leaflets and publication calling for the boycott of next election - See their case in the Appendix 1. The charges set forth by the Public Prosecution neglect their right for freedom of expression and could end up facing State security charges, leading to harsh penalties including prolonged imprisonment- See Appendix 2, below.

Concerns are also expressed at the arbitrary detention ordered following their exercise of rights protected by Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, which was acceded by the Bahrain Government on September 20th, 2006, concerning the right to freedom of opinion and expression.

We appreciate the comments on July 25th, 2006, about Counter-Terrorism Legislation in Bahrain made by the UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms while countering terrorism, Mr Martin Scheinin. His comments include ”the excessive limitations put on freedom of speech due to the use of broad and vague terms regarding the offence of incitement to terrorism since there is not a clear threshold for criminalization established; the denial of due process rights due to the excessive powers of the Public Prosecutor regarding detention without judicial review[1].

We commend your efforts which include the appeal to “all States to ensure respect and support for the rights of all persons who exercise the right to freedom of opinion and expression, the rights to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, peaceful assembly and association, and the right to take part in the conduct of public affairs, or who seek to promote and defend these rights and freedoms and, where any persons have been detained, subjected to violence or threats of violence and to harassment, including persecution and intimidation, solely for exercising these rights as laid down in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and, where applicable, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to take the appropriate steps to ensure the immediate cessation of these acts and to create conditions under which these acts may be less liable to occur”.

We have deep suspicions that the Bahraini Authorities are staging a campaign against activists, in the light of their vigorous performance and the repercussion of their involvement in “Bandergate”[2] as well as other State-sensitive issues like the call for new constitution[3].

In the new era of political openness, it is anticipated that the two activists, Mohamed and Husain, will be the first victims of the internationally denounced Bahraini Penal and Terrorism Codes, and could face harsh penalties. This will also serve to deter and undermine the activists’ eagerness to react to human rights education and protection, an issue proved to have annoyed the local Authorities.

We therefore plea that you take the necessary and swift measures to have the detained activists, Mohamed and Husain, unconditionally released, secure exercising their rights and freedoms, and encourage further State of Bahrain progress in this regard.

We also request that you consider including Bahrain on your list of countries to be visited due to the gross violations in terms of curtailing freedom of expression and targeting activists using legislations like Gatherings and Terrorism codes.

Thank you and look forward to your positive response to preserve and protect the human rights of Bahrainis.

آخر مرة كنتُ مريضه، كان ذلك قبل ستة شهور. هل من مرضى آخرين؟. بعد الواحدة ظهراً: لا. قال. جاء دوري إذن. مثل كل الضحايا، أتمدّد على الكرسيّ. أفغر فاهي، فيما يبدأ هو بتهيئة أدوات شغله. يضع الكمامة على فمه، ثم يهم بتوضيب الآلة. يحكّ السنّ تلو السنّ، فيتساقط الكلس والجير والحقد والضغينة وما بقي من لحم الغيبة. ومعي، فإن هذه العملية تطول. تطول لأن كورس حكّ الأسنان يتمدد ليشغل فَسَحات أخرى، ليس أولها، تسديد رشقات النقد إلى الطريقة التي تدار بها أمور الشأن العام. وبخبرة من يتقن، بحكم عمله، إزالة قشرة الجير، يتقن طبيب الأسنان إزالة القشرة من على شخصيّات المسرح. هناك طبقات جيرية خارج الفم، وتحديداً داخل المجتمع، لكننا هنا نزيلها بالآلة، أما هناك فنحن بحاجة إلى "بلدوزر". يقول طبيب الأسنان، ويقفل دورة الشغل، فيما أتسمر أنا أمام المرآة، مبتهجاً بإعادة دورة الحياة إلى أسناني.

بالأمس فاجأنا بيان وزارة الداخلية باعتقال اثنين من المواطنين بسبب تداول مطبوعات من غير ترخيص .

فقد عاد بنا هذا البيان إلى عهد الخمسينات عندما كان للمنشورات سوق وطعم  , إما الآن  ونحن في زمن الانترنت والبلوتوث والفضائيات وفي ظل المشروع الاصلاحي وصورة الحريات في البحرين , نعتبر أن أسباب الاعتقال أسباباً مشينةً في حق سمعة وطننا ودرجة الحرية لدينا , فوطن يسعى نحو الديمقراطية العريقة ويعيش أجواء انتخابات يجب فيه ألا يعتقل مواطنيه من النشطاء السياسيين لأنهم يمتلكون مطبوعات أو يعملون عملاً سياسياً سلمياً .

المنامة - عادل الشيخ [ صرح رئيس نيابة المحافظة الشمالية أحمد بوجيري بأن النيابة العامة أصدرت قراراً أمس (السبت) بحبس مواطنين مدة 15 يوماً احتياطياً على ذمة التحقيق، موجهةً إليهما تهمتا »حيازة مطبوعات تتضمن التحبيذ والترويج لتغيير نظم الدولة بوسائل غير مشروعة من دون سبب مشروع، إضافة إلى تهمة حيازة وإحراز مطبوعات من دون سببِ مشروع، تتضمن أخبارا وشائعات كاذبة ومغرضة ودعايات مثيرة من شأنها العمل على اضطراب الأمن العام وإلحاق الضرر بالمصلحة العامة«.



من جانبهما طلب وكيلا المتهمين المحامي عبدالله الشملاوي ومحمد المطوع من النيابة العامة الإفراج عن المتهمين، إلا أن النيابة قررت حبسهما على ذمة التحقيق لمدة 15 يوماً باعتبار تعلق الواقعة المنسوبة إليهما بأمن الدولة، عملاً بحكم المادة 147 فقرة 2 من قانون المحاكمات الجنائية التي أعطت للنيابة العامة صلاحية قاضي المحكمة الصغرى في الجرائم المنصوص عليها في الجرائم المنظومة في المواد 112 إلى 185 من قانون العقوبات (جرائم أمن دولة).
وبذلك يكون هذا الحادث الأول من نوعه منذ الإصلاحات التي قادها جلالة الملك في العام 2001.
وأوضح بوجيري أن المتهمين اعترفا بعد مواجهتهما في التحقيقات التي أجريت معهما بالحيازة، وبررا أنهما لا يعلمان بتجريم القانون لما يقومان به، مضيفا أن النيابة العامة مازالت تجري تحقيقاتها في القضية، وستستمع إلى الشهود، إضافة إلى أنها طلبت المزيد من تحريات الشرطة.
وتشير التفاصيل إلى أن أجهزة الأمن القت القبض على المتهمين وهما في بداية العقد الثالث من العمر أثناء تسلمهما كمية من المنشورات وعددها 1500 نسخة لتوزيعها على المصلين في مجموعة من المساجد وتتضمن تلك المنشورات طلب العصيان بأشكاله والمتمثل في المظاهرات والاعتصامات.
من جهتهما أقر المتهمان بحيازتهما تلك المنشورات إلا أنهما اعتبرا ما قاما به تعبيراً عن رأيهما، موضحين أنهما لا يعلمان بتجريم القانون لذلك الأمر، مشيرين إلى أنهما لو كانا يعلمان بذلك لما أتيا ذلك الفعل بشكل ظاهري.
إلى ذلك، قال مندوب الجمعية البحرينية لحقوق الإنسان والمحامي محمد المطوع الذي كان موجودا في غرفة التحقيق: »وجهت إلى المتهمين تهمة تتمثل في تغيير أنظمة الدولة كأنظمة سياسية واقتصادية لا كأنظمة بشرية، والمساس برموز السلطة، والدعوة إلى مقاطعة الانتخابات النيابية والبلدية المقبلة من خلال وجهة نظر مغايرة، واستخدام العصيان المدني مثل الاعتصامات والمظاهرات لتحقيق هذه النتيجة، فقد وجهت تهمة جنحة حيازة المنشورات إلى المتهم الأول، هذا المنشور المتحصل من شبكة الإنترنت والمؤلف من أحد المعارضين في الخارج، إذ قام المتهمان بسحبه من شبكة الإنترنت وتصويره بغية توزيعه على المصلين في بعض المساجد يوم الجمعة، إلا أن المتهمين يعتقدان أن ما قاما به مشروع ولا يحاسب عليه القانون، مدللين على شرعية ذلك بأنهما قاما بطباعته في مكان عام وفي مطبعة عامة من دون أي تحفظ«.
وعلق المطوع بصفته محام يا بأن ما ورد في هذا المطبوع هو وجهة نظر لمعارض يرى فيها أحقية الناس في تبني أي من الرأيين، إلا أنه يشدد على رأي المقاطعة، مستشهداً بإخفاقات الحركة السياسية البحرينية والبرلمان في ظل دستور 2002، والقوانين التي شرعت على هداه، كما تعرض هذا الرأي لمجموعة من المخالفات الإدارية والتي نسبها إلى الحكومة، وتتمثل في الاستيلاء على الأراضي من قبل المتنفذين وبموافقة من أصحاب القرار والتصرف في المال العام من دون محاسبة المتصرفين.

Constitutional Fallacy

...constitutional monarchy? Self-appointed monarch and self-written consitution I agree.

There is no room in Bahrain for genuine dissent. As long as you keep your views within the confines of a given political margin set according to some screwed up monarchial barometer you will be ok. This margin is set by laws promulgated through royal decrees. Over the last few years the most dangerous of laws have been set this way, laws banning group gatherings, press freedoms, impunity of former officials, societies laws, terrorism laws and now the banning of any debate/publications on Albandar. Two activists arrested last night in a printing shop whilst collecting a print order of a publication calling for the boycott of the upcoming elections were arrested and charged under new terrorism laws that can carry the death penalty.

Quite frankly i'm dismayed that some still use the word 'democracy' or 'reform' in our country, Bahrain is the anti-thesis if there ever was one. Certainly, its a fallacious argument one that is built on repetition, if you repeat these two words enough times it becomes fact. Political discourse in the media set directly by the Ministry of Information in uncanny Orwellian fashion is quite sickening. The existing parliament is about as significant as my university's debating society, and at least we have a credibly fair Chairman. But let us not, the free-thinkers of us, regurgitate this fallacy. As things have progressed, I have come to believe that self-serving proponents of this fallacy are not just the usual suspects, but the bourgoisie and the religious establishment. To me this has been the most disillusioning. I don't expect much from the top dog, but I expected more from these two. The topic of Bahrain's mediocre bourgoise and faltering religious establishment will be discussed another time. They got our Bishops (the clerics), Knights (the bourgoisie) and Rooks (the political societies), and our pawns are scattered as each unashamedly chases a worthless parliamentary seat.

Its Check, but hopefully not Checkmate yet.

لم يكن القمع الخليفي غريبا على هذا الوطن واهله يوما، فمنذ ان دنست أقدام هذه العائلة المحتلة أرض وطننا الحبيب، حل معها الظلم والجور والنهب والسلب والقتل، وسعت لإذلال أهلها بشتى الوسائل، وساومتهم على دينهم وحياتهم ورزقهم، فانا لله وانا اليه راجعون. وعلى مدى العصور والازمان لم يهنأ أهل البحرين بالعيش على ارضهم، وعندما أيقن المحتلون استحالة التعايش مع أهل هذه الارض بادروا لاستبدالهم بغيرهم. وها هي جحافل المستوطنين تداهم هذه الجزيرة الصغيرة لتحيل خضرتها يبابا، وتقضي على نضارتها وحيويتها وتاريخها وثقافتها. فأي جرم أكبر من ذلك؟

يخطيء من يظن ان علاقة آل خليفة بالبحرين وشعبها أزلية، فذلك مغاير للسنن الالهية والاجتماعية. وحيث انها قائمة على اساس الاضطهاد والاستضعاف والاستعباد، فانها غير مرشحة للدوام، فكلما ازداد ظلمهم وقمعهم وارهابهم، ازداد يوم رحيلهم قربا. فالحكم يبقى مع الكفر ولا يبقى مع الظلم.

لقد كان موقف قوات الشغب هذا اليوم مخزيا، وهم يتصدون لمسيرة سلمية تطالب بالتحقيق في تقرير البندر، ذلك التقرير الذي كشف بعضا قليلا من المستور في خبايا الضمير الخليفي الاسود. لم تحتمل هذه العائلة الظالمة سماع أصوات المظلومين ترتفع في ارضهم، فأصدرت اوامرها لمرتزقتها للتصدي لأبناء الوطن، وتهديدهم بالقتل او السجن ان أصروا على مواصلة الطريق. فالجريمة التي كشف عنها تقرير البندر أخطر من يعترف الحكم بها، ولكن الجريمة الاكبر ان يكون رأس الحكم هو المسؤول الاول عنها وعن تفصيلاتها. وعندما صدر التعميم الرسمي للاعلام الخليفي بالصمت على التقرير ومحتوياته، كان البعض يعتقد ان ذلك أحد أساليب الحل الهاديء. ولكن لم يحدث شيء في مجال الحل اطلاقا، بل بقي زعيم العصابة المتآمرة، أحمد عطية الله آل خليفة، متربعا على كرسي الوزارة، وكأنه لم يرتكب جرما. ان النظام الذي يحمي المجرمين امثال هذا الشخص وأخيه، المعذب المشهور، عبد العزيز، لا يمكن ان يرتجى منه خير مطلقا، فهو حري بالعزلة والمقاطعة، وتحفيز النفوس والهمم لمقاومته بكافة الوسائل السلمية، وتعريته امام العالم، وحرمانه الشرعية الشعبية التي يستند عليها لممارسة ظلمه وجوره. ان هذا النظام الذي يحمي الجلادين والمعذبين والمتآمرين ضد ابناء البحرين، يشعر ان مصدر الشرعية الوحيد لحكمه هو ابناء هذه البلاد. ومن هنا جاءت الدعوة لمقاطعته في كافة مفاصله، وفي مقدمتها مشروعه الانتخابي لمجلس كسيح لا فائدة ترجى منه لتحسين اوضاع الناس او انصافهم او اقامة ادنى مستوى من العدل والمساواة بين الناس.

وقد جاء اعتقال الناشط السياسي والحقوقي الدكتور محمد سعيد وزميله، حسين عبد العزيز الحبشي، استمرارا لعقلية القمع والتصفية والاقصاء، وهي السياسة التي أسس لها البريطاني البغيض، ايان هندرسون، وأقرها خليفة بن سلمان وعصابته. هذه العقلية ازدادت تطرفا في السنوات الاخيرة، واصبحت تحارب اهل البحرين، ليس في ازراقهم وامنهم فحسب، بل في وجودهم أيضا. الاخوان المرتهنان لدى العائلة الخليفية اصبحا عنوانا لظلامة هذا الشعب مجددا في عهد الشيخ حمد الذي يزداد سوءا يوما بعد آخر. انها تعبير عن الحفد الأسود لدى أحفاد "الفاتحين" ضد هذا الشعب المظلوم، ورسالة الى من يسعى لتحدي الظلم ومواجهة الاستبداد بان مصيره لن يكون أفضل من مصير هؤلاء الرهينتين. وقد عودنا الحاكم على هذا الاسلوب الرخيص. فقبيل اطلاق سراح السجناء السياسيين تحت الضغط الدولي الهائل في 2001 عمد مرتزقة آل خليفة للمزيد من الاعتقالات، ليظهر حجم "المكرمة" عندما يعلن عنها لاحقا. وفعل كذلك هذا العام عندما أمر باختيار صفوة الشباب الواعي من ابناء البحرين، للاعتقال والتعذيب والتنكيل. لقد كانوا رهائن في مقابل انجاح مشروعه التخريبي الخطير. وعندما أيقن لقرار البعض بالمشاركة، أصدر أمرا بـ "مكرمة" أخرى لاطلاق سراحهم. انه منطق فرعون الذي يخاطب الناس قائلا: انا أحيي وأميت. ان طاغية البحرين اليوم قادر على انتزاع حرية الناس واعادتها اليهم. أليس كذلك؟ انه اليوم يعتقل الدكتور محمد سعيد وزميله ليؤكد وجوده وسلطته وكبرياءه: أنا أعتفل، فأنا موجود. أنا أعذب فأنا موجود....

غريب أمر البشر الذين يرضخون لهذا المنطق الفرعوني، بدلا من مجابهته وكشفه امام العالم. فهل هناك طاغية تغير وأصبح ديمقراطيا؟ وهل يعتقد من يسعى للتصويت بـ "نعم" على الدستور الخليفي الاسبوع المقبل، بمشاركته في الانتخابات الخليفية انه ينقل المعارضة فعلا الى داخل النظام؟ لو كان الامر كذلك لأعلنها المشاركون، ولطرحوا شعارات أخرى تكشف ذلك التوجه. وكل ما سمعناه وكدنا نتقيأ منه ذلك الشعار الذي لا يصدقه من كتبه: معا نصنع القرار؟ فأي قرار هذا الذي تصنعونه معا؟ أهو قرار الاعتقالات والسجون والتعذيب؟ أم قرار التجنيس السياسي؟ أم قرار مصادرة الاراضي البرية والبحرية؟ أم نهب أموال النفط وحرمان الجياع منها؟ أم قرار التطبيع مع "اسرائيل"؟ ام قرار استدعاء أمريكا لحماية النظام ومشاركة البحرين، من بين دول الخليج الاخرى، في المناورات المشتركة الاخيرة والمستقبلية؟ أنعيش في حلم أم يقظة؟

لطالما كان أملنا ان يتواصل الموقف الشعبي الصامد بوجه الاستبداد الخليفي الشرير، تحت شعار المقاومة المدنية التي أدنى مراتبها المقاطعة القلبية للنظام ورموزه وآلياته. ولطالما تمنينا ان يحفظ الله اخوتنا الذين يعلنون صراحة عن عزمهم على مشاركة العائلة الخليفية في قراراتها الجائرة، من زيف الادعاء واوهام الشيطان، وزخرف الدنيا، خصوصا ان بعضهم ممن كان له قدم صدق في النضال، ولم يخالجنا يوما شك في اخلاصه وايمانه. نقول للجميع، وقد بدأ الفصل الاسود الذي كان مؤجلا لما يسمى زورا "الاستحقاق الانتخابي" قبل موعده، باعتقال الأخوين الناشطين: يا أيها الذين آمنوا خذوا حذركم، فانفروا ثبات او انفروا جميعا". فالعدو واحد، وهو لا يميز بين ابناء البحرين في ظلمه، فما دامت عقلية الاحتلال (الذي يسميه الفتح) معشعشة في نفسيته، فسوف يستمر في تعامله مع الجميع كأسرى حرب مرتهنين لديه، يزج منهم من يشاكس في زنزانات التعذيب، ويترك الآخرين في السجن الكبير، ويدفع بالبعض الى دول الخليج الاخرى في اطار مشروع التهجير. ندعو الله سبحانه وتعالى ان يباعد بيننا وبين الظالمين، ويثبت أقدامنا على الصراط المسستقيم، بعيدا عن الظالمين والمستبدين والجلادين.

اللهم ارحم شهداءنا الابرار، واجعل لهم قدم صدق، وفك قيد أسرانا يا رب العالمين

أقدمت عناصر المخابرات الأجنبية التابعة إلى جهاز الأمن البحريني عصر أمس (الخميس) على اختطاف المواطن الدكتور محمد سعيد (31 عاماً)، وهو ناشط سياسي يعمل طبيب أسنان، واقتياده عنوةً ومن دون إذن من النيابة العامة، إلى مركز التحقيقات في العدلية، إحدى ضواحي العاصمة البحرينية (المنامة).

وكشف شقيق المختطف لـ"مداس آية الله" إن "قوة مؤلفة من عدة سيارات مدنية تابعة إلى وزارة الداخلية قد داهمت المتهم في أثناء تواجده في أحد مقاهي الإنترنت وتحفظت عليه وسيارته".

وقال "لم يتسنّ لأهل المختطف معرفة مصيره إلا بعد ساعات من إلقاء القبض عليه، على الرغم من مراجعتهم لأكثر من مركز شرطة بعد شكهم في أسباب تأخره عن موعد عودته إلى المنزل".

وأضاف "إن شقيقته قد تلقت اتصالاً منه يفيد بوجوده في مبنى التحقيقات من دون أن يعطي أية تفاصيل إضافية" على حد تعبيره.

وسبق وأن تم اعتقال سعيد أواخر التسعينات على خلفية نشاطه السياسي، وخرج من السجن في إثر مرسوم العفو الذي أصدره الشيخ حمد العام 2002 عن المحكومين بقضايا سياسية.

وفي وقت متأخر من ليل أمس، أصدرت وزارة الداخلية بياناً أوضحت فيه إن المختطف أوقف على إثر قيامه بـ"توزيع مطبوعات غير مرخصة بهدف زعزعة الأمن".

وفي سياق متصل، أصدرت "لجنة التضامن مع النشطاء ومعتقلي الرأي في البحرين" بياناً طالبت فيه بإطلاق سراح المختطف محملة الحكومة مسؤولية سلامته.

Bahrain: Outrage as two activists are taken hostage

The arrest yesterday of two political activists has, once again, exposed the real nature of the hereditary dictatorship in Bahrain. Dr Mohammad Saeed and Hussain Abdul Aziz Al Habshi were arrested for possession of what the interior ministry claimed to be “leaflets with seditious intentions”. The Al Khalifa described the possession of anti-regime leaflets “a crime”. Dr Mohammad Saeed is a qualified dentist who owns a practice in Muharraq. He had been arrested in the nineties and spent two years behind bars. He was subjected to horrific torture under the supervision of the notorious torturer, Abdul Aziz Atiyyat Allah Al Khalifa and Adel Flaifel.

The year began with large scale arrests during peaceful protests against the Al Khalifa hereditary dictatorship. Sixty five people were maltreated in the torture cells before their mass release two months ago. Of course, the release was “a gracious act” by Sheikh Hamad. Bahrain is not run by the rule of law but by the ruler himself. He is the constitution. He is the law. He is the state. He drew up his own constitution that places him above the executive, legislative and the judiciary powers. In Bahrain, all are one, and are all run by the Al Khalifa. The arrests are believed to have been ordered by the royal palace, which is the effective government of the country.

Human Rights activists have raised concerns about the new prisoners of conscience. The Committee of Solidarity with Activists and Detainees of Conscience in Bahrain issued a statement in which it “holds the Bahraini Authorities the full responsibility for the safety of Dr. Mohammed Saeed demanding his immediate and unconditional release. It also affirms the right of the people of Bahrain in expressing themselves against all forms of discrimination and marginalization, as mentioned in the Bandargate report.”
The Bahrain Centre for Human Rights said: “The BCHR finds itself concerned as to the reasons behind the detention as well as the activists safety in consideration of the infamous dealings of the intelligence and Interior Ministries officials with activists in the past.”

We here appeal to human rights bodies, especially the UN Human Rights Centre to intervene and call for the immediate unconditional release of the two prisoners of conscience, whose guilt according to the official version, is no more than possession of anti-regime material. This is not a crime except under despotic and dictatorial regimes.

Meanwhile, the people of Bahrain are embracing themselves to more state-terrorism in the coming days. The Al Khalifa have promised to take revenge against those who join a planned demonstration this afternoon against the Al-Khalifa secret organization that aims to alter the social and political situation in the country, as exposed by the Al Bandar report. The Al Khalifa will be responsible for any blood shed or carnage resulting from their expected attack on the demonstration.

Bahrain’s latest political prisoners

Last night two men were detained by the police, apparently for publicizing the demonstration planned for today, calling for an investigation in to the Bandargate scandal. One of the men, Dr Mohammed Saeed, a dentist from Sehla apparently, is a signatory to the petition to the King urging an investigation. Keep track of his case on the Free Mohd Saeed website.

And it looks like the riot police is going to attack yet another demonstration today, as the ministry of interior has announced that “uninformed demonstrations” will not be allowed (although the protest organizers claim that prior notification was given to the ministry three days ago).

Bahrain: Authorities arrested an activist on the eve of a popular march on Bandargate

Around 8:30 this evening local time, the arrest of an activist- Dr. Mohammad Saeed- by the Bahraini security has been confirmed. Dr. Saeed was one of the individuals who signed the petition addressed to the King about the report of the Gulf Democracy Development Center, known locally by "Bandargate" demanding for investigation.

It is to be noted that over twenty individuals has issued a public call for a rally denouncing the conspiracy on the people of Bahrain, as laid down by the report, to commence at 3pm tomorrow afternoon (Friday) in the Capital.

The Committee of Solidarity with the Activists and Detainees of Conscience hold the Bahraini Authorities the full responsibility for the safety of Dr. Mohammed Saeed demanding his immediate and unconditional release. It also affirms the right of the people of Bahrain in expressing themselves against all forms of discrimination and marginalization, as mentioned in the Bandargate report.

The Committee also addresses the concerned international organizations- especially the representative of the Secretary-General on the protection of defenders – of the need to address the Bahraini Authorities for the release of the activist, Dr. Mohamed Saeed, and protect activists in Bahrain.

البحرين: السلطات البحرينية تعتقل أحد النشطاء عشية المسيرة الشعبية بخصوص فضيحة "البندر"

في حوالي الساعة الثامنة والنصف من مساء هذا اليوم بالتوقيت المحلي تم التأكد من إعتقال الناشط الدكتور محمد سعيد لدى سلطات الأمن البحرينية. والدكتور محمد سعيد هو أحد الشخصيات التي وقعت على العريضة الموجهة لملك البلاد بخصوص مركز الخليج لتنمية الديمقراطية (مواطن) وما عرف محلياً بفضيحة "البندر" والمطالبة بالتحقيق فيها. تجدر الإشارة الى ان نيف وعشرين شخصية وطنية قد دعت الى مسيرة شعبية إستنكاراً على التآمر على شعب البحرين كما جاء في التقرير المذكور، حيث تنطلق في الساعة الثالثة من عصر يوم غد الجمعة في العاصمة المنامة.

وإذ تحمل لجنة التضامن مع النشطاء ومعتقلي الرأي السلطات البحرينية مسئولية سلامة الدكتور محمد سعيد، فإنها تطالب بالإفراج الفوري عنه دون قيد أو شرط، كما تؤكد على حق شعب البحرين في التعبير عن مناهضته لممارسات التمييز والتهميش كما جاء في في تقرير فضيحة البندر.

كما تطالب اللجنة المنظمات الدولية المعنية- وخصوصاً ممثل الأمين العام الخاص بحماية النشطاء والمدافعين عن حقوق الإنسان- بضرورة العمل على مخاطبة السلطات البحرينية من أجل إطلاق سراح الناشط الدكتور محمد سعيد وحماية النشطاء في البحرين.
